About, AIM and Objectives

Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have been identified as the weaker sections of the Indian Society. They include all such castes, races or tribes, which have been declared as scheduled castes and scheduled tribes under the provisions of Article 341 and 342 of the Constitution of India. Scheduled Castes generally represent those communities, which have suffered from the stigma of untouchability in one form or the other. Scheduled Tribes are generally those who have been living in seclusion in hills and forests, more or less untouched by modern civilization and development.

The Constitution of India, promulgated in 1950, recognizes the Scheduled castes and the Scheduled tribes as requiring  special  protection.  A number of provisions have been made in the Constitution with a view to abolish all forms of discrimination and put these groups at par with others. We, at CNLU, Patna, have taken a small initiative in this concern under the able leadership of our worthy vice-chancellor Professor (Dr.) Faizan Mustafa by establishing an SC/ST Welfare Cell.

The CNLU SC/ST Welfare Cell at CNLU, Patna, has been set up to ensure proper implementation of various schemes of UGC, Government of India and State Government regarding scholarships etc. for the welfare of the reserved categories. The SC/ST Welfare Cell also intends to ensure the effective implementation of  the  reservation policy  in admission  of students  and recruitment  of teaching  and non-teaching staff at various  levels. Besides sensitizing the academic community about the problems faced by the people of SC/ST category, the Cell also looks into their overall general welfare and other related matters.

The Special Cell for the welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes at Chanakya National Law University, Patna, is working towards the attainment of following objectives:

The AIMS and Objectives of the CNLU SC/ST Cell:-

  1. To conduct critical academic sessions, seminars and group discussions by renowned dignitaries.
  2. To promote awareness of laws related to marginalized sections to promote inclusivity.
  3. To promote research in the field of law relating to marginalized sections.
  4. To redress the issue related to scholarship for the students belonging to such section.
  5. To foster a sense of inclusivity by engaging with students, faculty, alumni and prospective students through interactive and willing full conversations.
  6. To establish collaboration with other institutions, organizations, NGO and platforms working for marginalized sections to facilitate the growth of
    students.
  7. To take such follow-up measures for achieving the objective and targets laid down for the purpose by the Government of India, State Govt and the UGC.
  8. To function as a Grievances Redressal Cell for the Grievances of SC/ST students and employees of the university and render them necessary help in solving their academic as well as administrative problems.
  9. Any other work assigned from time to time to promote higher education among these two communities suffering economic, social and educational deprivations.
